How a bespoke commission works
From the outside, commissioning jewelry can look opaque — long waits, prices revealed late, decisions made for you. Here it is not. This is the whole process at our Istanbul atelier, from the first message to the years after delivery.
First, the ask
Every commission begins with a description. It can be precise — a one-carat oval solitaire in 18K yellow gold — or it can be a feeling and a photograph. Both are enough.
If you have images of a piece you love — inherited, lost, or seen once and never forgotten — send them through the From a Photograph flow and we work from what you show us. If you would rather build the idea choice by choice, shape to stone to metal, the simplest place to begin is the builder.
Asking carries no obligation. You are requesting a quote, not placing an order.
Within 24 hours: a price, a sketch, a date
Your quote arrives within 24 hours, and it holds three things: a price, a sketch of the piece, and a delivery date. Not a range, not a starting-from figure — the number.
The sketch matters as much as the price. It shows you what we understood, so anything lost between your words and our bench surfaces before any metal is touched. Nothing begins until you confirm.
The make: about five days at the bench
Once you confirm, the piece enters the atelier. One master jeweler carries it from sketch to setting — the same hands throughout, at one bench in Istanbul. There is no stock to queue behind; your commission is the work.
If the design carries a stone over 0.5 ct, it comes certified by GIA or HRD, and you see the certificate before you confirm. From confirmation, the bench takes about five days.
Delivery, and every year after
The finished piece is delivered insured and signed for, wherever you are.
Every piece carries a lifetime craftsmanship guarantee. If the workmanship ever fails you, the fault and the fix are ours.
Beyond the guarantee, the bench stays open to your piece: resizing, repolishing, and re-tipping worn prongs are offered to original buyers at cost, indefinitely. A commission does not end at delivery; it acquires an address to return to.
Where the money goes
A bespoke price here has three parts: the stone, the metal, and the hours at the bench. That is the whole formula — there is no line for the name.
The stone is not pulled from a drawer; it is sourced to your specification. The metal is 18K or 14K gold — yellow, white, or rose — and gold is the whole of our range. The hours belong to one jeweler, at one bench.
No showroom, no committee, no brand premium. When a piece costs less than its glass-case equivalent, that is not a discount — it is the absence of everything that was never the jewelry.
What bespoke changes
A retail ring is typically made in advance, to an average finger, and sized after purchase. A bespoke piece is made once, for one hand — after you have already seen its price, its sketch, and its stone's certificate.
It also changes what you pay for. Stock is typically bought, displayed, and financed before anyone wants it, and that cost lives in its price. We hold no stock — every piece is made to order — so you pay for your piece and nothing else's.
How to prepare

Three things make a quote faster and truer:
- Name your real budget. It is not a negotiating position; it is a design constraint. We source the stone to it and return the true number within 24 hours.
- Know the ring size, or let us help. Measure a ring that already fits the intended finger; caught between two sizes, take the larger — resizing is a lifetime bench service, at cost.
- Send photographs that show, not just impress. A few angles in natural daylight, one close shot of the detail you love, and anything for scale. Screenshots are fine; being clear about what drew you matters more than resolution.

- How long does a custom engagement ring take?

- Is bespoke jewelry more expensive than buying from a store?
- It does not have to be. A bespoke piece here is priced to the stone, the metal, and the hours at the bench. There is no inventory markup and no brand premium — because there is no inventory, and you are not paying for a name.
- Do I need to know exactly what I want?
- No. A photograph, a rough description, or a feeling is enough to begin. The sketch that comes back within 24 hours is where the idea takes shape — and requesting it commits you to nothing.
- Will the diamond be certified?
- Any stone over 0.5 ct comes certified by GIA or HRD, and you see the certificate before you confirm the commission.
- What if the ring doesn't fit?
- We resize it. Resizing, repolishing, and re-tipping are lifetime bench services, offered to original buyers at cost, indefinitely.
